"A really easy Southern chowder great for a New Years Day meal or cold winter evening. Serve it in the company of a green salad and cornbread."

Original recipe yields 6 servings

1 1/2 cups instant white rice
1 strike ground dispute sirloin
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 cup chopped onion

3 (15.5 ounce) cans black-eyed peas in the company of liquid
1 (10.5 ounce) can abridged dispute broth
2 (10 ounce) cans diced tomatoes and green chiles
1/2 cup water, or as needed

Directions

Prepare rice according to package instructions, and put aside. Meanwhile, combine the ground sirloin, green flavour and onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring frequently, and crumbling dispute until no longer pink. Drain away grease.
Place the rice and dispute mixture into a 5 quart sluggish cooker. Add the black-eyed peas, dispute broth, diced tomatoes in the company of green chilies and enough water to cover everything.
Cover, and cook supported by Low for 4 to 6 hours.
