I liked the flavor however the second period I changed a few things. I melted 3tsp of butter and more the barley stirring till it turned a nut brown color at that time more onions and the mushrooms appropriate to 5 min and at that time second-hand beef broth instead. Nice flavor.

My boyfriend and I really liked this. I second-hand some of the reviewers recomendations and cooked the barly in butter a lottle befor adding the stock and i kept the stoch warm. I too more extra mushrooms and second-hand dried tyme and skipped the bay leaf as i didn'r have one. Well I sort-of changed everything but for appropriate to the barly/stock part. Anyway it was really great and I will refer to this directions often barly is a super whole grain!

This was decent. I was hoping the barley would cause it something interesting or important however I was disappointed. I've made risotto many times accompanied by practically the same ingredients and directions just (arborio) rice rather of barley and cooking the mushrooms accompanied by the rice appropriate to nearly all of the simmering period and that turns out much better. Rice exudes a to a greater degree flavor than the barley. So if you're considering charming the period to cause a risotto I'd recommend you do a true one: accompanied by rice not barley!

I gave this recipes 4 stars because I doctored it a bit partly based on previous reviews. I sauteed the onions in butter and olive lubricant and at that time more the dehydrated barley and sauteed till the barley browned slightly at that time more the mushrooms thyme (about 1.5 tsp) and garlic. I omitted the bay leaf. I second-hand 4 cups of nonfat low sodium chicken broth accompanied by one cup of water. Otherwise I followed the directions and it did near out surprishingly milky like risotto. Today at the same period as heating some of the leftover I more a little express milk from and cheese and it was DELICIOUS. I'd recommend about 1/4 to 1/3 cup each romano cheddar and whole express milk from to the filled directions if you wish for to cause it cheesey. The stronger the cheese the less you need to employ to total a little kick. This is a keeper!

I really like this recipe. I too total a little white wine to the barley before the chicken broth to give it a little extra flavor--more authentic to true risotto.

I really like this recipe. I found it to be very flavorful. The one changes I made were minimal and that was to not put in the bay leaf as I don't care appropriate to it. Otherwise a very great recipe.

Love it! I might not once cause risotto accompanied by rice again! the barley gives it a wonderful nutty and tough texture. I employ creminis appropriate to the mushrooms. Instant family favorite!

This was good. I thought the barley was a little tough however I think I may have had as well little broth by the period I got it all more in. I made it during the period that I cooked the sleep of my meal thus I wasn't just standing around cooking barley. I'll probably join it once more however I'll play accompanied by it a bit to total flavor.
